Hi, and welcome back! As always it’s great to have you here. I’m your host Marie O’Neil, creator of The Complete Self-help System For Overcoming Depression (to learn more, be sure to register for the FREE Masterclass) and the Author of How To Create A Depression-Free Life.
Now, anyone whose been in depression has experienced the feeling that the state of depression is never going to end.
It feels like that space is just going to go on forever, right?
It’s like we’re trapped in a deep dark hole from which there’s no escape. But, it doesn’t have to be that way!
And, today I’m going to be giving you a quick and easy technique to move you through these feelings as quickly as possible, so you can start to see some light at the end of the tunnel and feel some relief from your depression, anxiety or your fears!
So, let’s get started…
So, anytime you feel trapped or you’re facing a situation you don’t like, or you feel great fear or anxiety rise within you, be sure to follow these 3 simple steps:
Step 1: Acknowledge + Accept
Acknowledge and accept the discomfort you’re feeling in this space.
Whatever you’re feeling is okay, it’s natural. Don’t judge your feelings, accept them.
Accept the fact that fear, the anxiety or the depression is there, but don’t do anything about it. Don’t pay any attention to your thoughts, simply shift all of your attention to your body, and see if you can sense any tension within your body.
Are there any areas that feel particularly tense or uncomfortable?
If so, then simply tighten and tense that part up as much as possible, and after a few seconds, suddenly relax it.
What we need to be aware of is that if tension doesn’t exist in the body, fear cannot exist.
You see, fear, anxiousness, depression all create a certain tension within the body.
So, if you can relax, your fear, anxiety and depression is bound to disappear. A relaxed person cannot be scared. A relaxed person cannot be frightened.
A relaxed person CANNOT be depressed.
And, even if fear, or some anxiety or depression does come, it will just pass like a wave. It will not get roots, because there’s no tension in the body for it to get rooted into.
Tension is the soil in which fear, anxiety and depression require to root themselves into your life.
So, that’s step one; acknowledge and accept the discomfort you’re feeling in this space and relax your body.
Step 2: Time Travel
Yes, that’s right! I want you to “jump forward” in your mind to a time and space, let’s say… In a couple of hours or so, where you see the stress of this moment has passed.
See yourself feeling much, much lighter because all the tension and fear of the situation has passed, you’re smiling because you’re now feeling so relieved, relaxed and refreshed.
You’re also feeling extremely confident because you’ve passed through a challenge that once terrified you.
You’ve freed yourself from that dark space which used to keep you trapped.
Feel how great it feels to KNOW that you have the power to change any state you’re in, if you just allow it to pass.
So, see it pass in your minds eye, and see yourself on the other side of any challenge, successful, confident and vibrant!
Step 3: Life Is Change
Recognise that everything in life changes. It’s a fundamental law of this entire universe.
Life is constantly changing.
Life is change.
I mean, just look at yourself…
You are not the same person today, that you were when you were 20 and you won’t be the same person you are today, when you are 80. You are constantly growing and changing.
In fact, there is only one thing permanent in this world, and that is change.
Besides change, everything else changes.
Now, I really want you to take in those words… Everything changes in this world, that includes your depression.
Just think about this…
The entire universe cannot change its fundamental laws of constant change, just so you can remain in a constant state of depression forever. It’s just not possible.
Nothing remains static in this universe, absolutely nothing. Which means, depression is something that will change, if you allow it too.
But, the key is to not fight it, to not push against it. To not become depressed about being depressed.
Because, here’s the deal…
The first state of depression is natural, it can be sorted. But, being depressed about being depressed, this secondary state is unnatural.
So, we’ve got to drop it and accept that feelings of sadness, pain, anxiety and depression are all natural parts of life.
They are NOT mental illnesses or disorders, they are natural!
In fact, as humans we can bear very intense levels of emotions or depressed feelings. Our capacity is huge. It’s only when we lose hope and become demoralised and we forget that we have this huge capacity to experience and cope with these huge array of emotions, that the trouble starts.
So, from today start integrating these 3 simple steps into your life and I promise you, your fear, anxiety and depression will change, because that is the law of the universe, right? 😉

Take care, talk to you soon, bye for now 😉
