Hi and welcome back, as always, it’s great to have you here! I’m your host Marie O’Neil, creator of the highly transformative Complete Self-Help System For Overcoming Depression and the Author of How To Create A Depression-Free Life.
Now, if you ever find you have trouble getting to sleep, you’re going to love today’s episode because I’m going to be sharing a quick and easy technique, in fact, it’s so easy… Absolutely anyone can do it!
Not only, will this simple technique help you get to sleep faster but you’ll also discover you have a more restful and solid sleep!
Sound good?
Well, let’s get started!
So, when it’s time for you to sleep, simply lie down on your bed with your eyes closed, take 7 deep breaths and just slow yourself down as you relax into your bed.
Then, with your eyes still closed, I want you to imagine an old-school blackboard in your minds eye. Imagine it as black and as large as possible.
Now, once you have that visual of the old-school blackboard in your mind, the next step is to simply visualise the figure 3 on that blackboard, then after a few moments, wipe it off.
Then, visualise the figure 3 on the blackboard again, then wipe it off.
Then, visualise the figure 3 on that blackboard once more, and then wipe it off.
You want to visualise the figure of 3 on the blackboard for a total of 3 times.
So, first visualise, then wipe it off. Again, you visualise it and wipe it off and again, you visualise it and wipe it off.
Then, you repeat this exact same process for the numbers: 2, 1 and 0.
So, you visualise the figure 2 on the blackboard three times.
Then, you visualise the figure 1 on the blackboard three times.
Then, you visualise the figure 0 on the blackboard three times.
Now, by the time you reach zero you will be feeling more still and sleepy and you’ll find you can more easily just “drop off” to sleep.
Now, whilst doing this quick and easy technique, the key is to not rush it.
Don’t be in a hurry.
Remember, you’re wanting to drift off to sleep, so you want to move slowly throughout this technique. Don’t rush anything or you’ll just keep yourself in a heightened state.
So, keep everything slow, imagine you’re trying to gently lull a baby off to sleep.
Also, if you find that your mind wanders anytime during this technique, no worries!
Don’t get frustrated or annoyed. It’s natural, it happens.
All you need to do is ever-so gently guide your mind back to the blackboard and start visualising once again.
Now, you may even find you fall asleep before you reach the figure zero and that’s okay.
The aim is to simply drift off into sleep, into a deep silence, without any stress.
So, give it a go and be sure to let me know how it goes for you, either in the review section of this podcast or in the comments section for this episode on my website.
I’m really keen to know how it goes for you, so do share your thoughts and experiences!
